Emotional Support

  • We provide free emotional and practical support and information to anyone aged 12 and over who has experienced any form of sexual violence, abuse, or exploitation at any point in their life.
  • All our services are trauma-informed, person-centered, and confidential.
  • We are an all women team of highly trained trauma support workers and operate in a non-clinical space that is warm and welcoming. We can also provide region-wide outreach to your home or any other safe and appropriate venue of your choosing.
  • We offer support and signposting to non-abusing partners, friends and family members.
  • We work on the basis that each person’s circumstances and experiences are different and unique to them, and all support is survivor-led.
  • Support can be given either face to face, telephone, text or email.

What to expect at your first appointment.

The first appointment is called an initial support session (ISS) where you will speak with our support coordinator to determine which part of our service is best suited to your needs. This gives you a chance to familiarise yourself with our centre and to let us know what you feel is right for you. We are here to listen in a relaxed environment where you will be believed and supported.

Once you have decided that we are the right support service for you our coordinator will allocate you a support worker who will be in touch with you to arrange your first session. From time to time, we operate a short waiting list, but you will be made aware of current waiting times at your ISS.

You are not required to go into details about what has happened to you if you choose not to, and we won’t bombard you with questions. Sessions will last approximately one hour and will be taken at your own pace. Our aim is to support and empower you to take back control in the wake of sexual violence trauma.

If you feel we may be the right service for you then you can call our centre to arrange an appointment or simply to ask us questions before making any decisions. You can self-refer, and you do not need to have reported to the police.
