About Us
Dumfries and Galloway Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Support Centre provides free and confidential information, advocacy, and emotional support to anyone aged 12 and above who has experienced or been affected by any form of sexual violence, abuse, or exploitation at any time in their life. This includes survivors of sexual violence and their non-abusing family and friends, and we work on the basis that each person’s circumstances and experiences are different and unique to them, and all support is trauma informed and survivor led.
We believe that perpetrators of sexual violence are responsible for their actions. We recognise that all forms of sexual abuse are acts of violence, involving the abuse of power and control and this informs our work supporting survivors to take back control of their lives and to heal from the effects of sexual violence trauma.
As an organisation our priority is to ensure that survivors of sexual violence and abuse receive a quality assured service and high standards of support. We are a fully autonomous Scottish registered charity and affiliates of Rape Crisis Scotland’s national network of member centres and are bound by their National Service Standards quality assurance framework. Our work is underpinned by our values of equality, feminism, and human rights.
